FAQ’s

In this FAQ, we attempt to answer some of the questions we get asked on a regular basis. If you have something you want to ask the Transmission Team look here first (to help preserve our sanity) and if you cannot find your answer you can contact us at info@transmissionhq.org.

Q: Do you accept poetry?
A: No. We don’t believe that prose fiction and poetry necessarily make easy bedfellows. There are plenty of people who would disagree with this and there are other publications who do publish the two successfully, but at Transmission we are passionate about short stories and our remit is to champion this unique and much-neglected art form.

Q: Do you offer payment?
A: No. Transmission is a voluntarily-run publication and nobody on the team receives payment for their services. Contributors to the magazine will receive a free copy of the publication for their portfolio.

Q: Who owns copyright?
A: Each individual contributor retains copyright for their own work.

Q: Where can I buy Transmission?
A: Transmission can be purchased at our secure online shop, or from one of these locations.

Q: I am a writer outside the UK. Why can’t I submit?
A: Currently Transmission is run by a dedicated voluntary staff. While we would love to accept submissions from all over the world, it is currently a logistical impossibility. If you are an international writer, keep your eyes on our website to see if the situation changes.

Q: Are you looking for staff?
A: Transmission is currently a voluntarily run publication so if you are looking for paid work, we’re afraid we can’t help! Similarly if you are looking for unpaid work experience we currently have no positions available.

Q: How do I advertise in Transmission?
A: Please contact adverts@transmissionhq.org for details and rate cards.
