I received an email with some startling bad news today - the fantastic McSweeney’s, the publishing house set up by Dave Eggers is in trouble. This from them:

Another Prize for Short Fiction
We have just seen the longlist for the Frank O’Connor Award for collections of short stories. It delighted us to notice that some independent publishers were represented in the list. Salt seem to be going from strength to strength, with two longlisted titles, Call It Tender by John Saul and Family Connections by Chrissie Gittins.
