Another Prize for Short Fiction

We have just seen the longlist for the Frank O’Connor Award for collections of short stories. It delighted us to notice that some independent publishers were represented in the list. Salt seem to be going from strength to strength, with two longlisted titles, Call It Tender by John Saul and Family Connections by Chrissie Gittins.

This is a competition to watch. Last year’s winner was previous Transmission interviewee Haruki Murakami, and this year’s judges include Rick Moody (an author who has been involved in McSweeney’s).
